Kedarnath Temple Declares Mobile-Free Zone, Banning Reels & Video Recording to Preserve Sanctity

In a significant move ahead of Char Dham Yatra 2025, the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has imposed a strict ban on mobile phones, video recording, and reels inside the Kedarnath Temple premises. This decision aims to uphold the temple’s spiritual sanctity and ensure a peaceful atmosphere for devotees. The ban extends to a 30-meter radius around the temple, with strict enforcement by police, ITBP personnel, and temple staff.

Last year, several viral videos surfaced of visitors making reels, proposing inside the temple complex, and disrupting the spiritual environment. Such incidents tarnished the temple’s image and caused inconvenience to devotees. To prevent similar occurrences, the committee has ramped up security, implementing thorough checks and surveillance at all entry points. Pilgrims will undergo strict inspections to ensure compliance with the new rules.

The Char Dham Yatra Update confirms that the pilgrimage will commence on May 2, 2025, when Kedarnath opens its doors to devotees. Extensive security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the yatra. Additionally, the Uttarakhand government has issued a health advisory, urging pilgrims to undergo medical check-ups and prepare physically for the demanding high-altitude trek.

With heightened vigilance and reinforced regulations, the temple committee is committed to preserving the sanctity of Kedarnath, ensuring that devotees experience a serene and respectful spiritual journey this year.
